The first person of the singular of the present tense of the verb to believe and that of the verb to create are written exactly the same: I believe.

Miguel de Unamuno (1864-1936) already said it when reflecting on religious faith in Three exemplary novels and a prologue: “And faith is the source of reality, because it is life. To believe is to create”. The Basque writer believed that we could create with imagination and that “faith is not to believe in what we did not see, but to create what we see”.

In the same way, Anthony de Mello (Bombay, 1931- New York, 1987) is a Jesuit priest who left the contents of his talks in written texts. In Wake up! It tells us that faith is “an opening to the truth, regardless of the consequences, no matter where it leads to one. That is faith. Not belief but faith. ” On the contrary “beliefs give one a lot of security. But faith is insecurity. ” It is not knowing and being open to learning. And being open “does not mean being gullible, it does not mean swallowing everything the speaker says, in any way”.

Questioning always everything, from the most doubtful to the most obvious, is the first step to open the mind to a more holistic vision, to an awareness of unity.

This is what Nissagardata Maharaj tells us in I Am That “Questioning the habitual is the duty of the mind. What the mind has created, the mind must destroy it. ” If we do not, we can come to think that we are what our mind tells us. “We never bothered to check. The way to the truth goes through the destruction of the false. To destroy the false, you must question your most ingrained beliefs. “

Our belief system has been formed through numerous events that we have perceived as true or false according to what our family, social, cultural environment, etc. have believed. Most of these certainties are limiting beliefs that prevent us from going beyond them because we are conditioned to defend them and live according to them.

The main belief that steals our emotional freedom is the belief that we are all separated.
